Neurology: Genetics'
New Mission, Vision, and Scope
The Helix: New Mission, New Reviews, New Word Counts, Oh My!
Stefan M. Pulst, MD, Dr med, FAAN
It is hard to imagine, but Neurology® Genetics has now been in publication for 7 years and has established itself as a premier journal for clinical neurogenetics. Given this success, the editors have reevaluated the mission and goals of the journal and decided that it is time to expand the scope of articles considered for publication. Although most of the articles will still deal with rare and common genetic variation, genotype-phenotype correlations, outlier phenotypes as a result of mutations in known disease genes, and genetic variants with a putative link to diseases, we will broaden the scope.
Vision
Neurology: Genetics will be a premier peer-reviewed journal in the field of human neurogenetics.
Mission
Neurology: Genetics will provide neurologists, geneticists, and neuroscientists with outstanding original contributions that elucidate the role of genetic and epigenetic variations in disease and biological traits of the central and peripheral nervous systems as well as investigations of therapeutic approaches for these disorders.
About Neurology: Genetics
Neurology: Genetics is an online open access journal publishing peer-reviewed reports in the field of neurogenetics. The journal publishes original articles in all areas of neurogenetics including rare and common genetic variations, genomics, genotype-phenotype correlations, outlier phenotypes as a result of mutations in known disease genes, genetic variations with a putative link to diseases, and translational research in these disorders.
Our interests include studies on genetic disease risk, pharmacogenomics, polygenic risk scores, transcriptomics and translatomics, mendelian randomization as well as studies on natural history, clinical outcome measures, biomarkers and clinical trials.
Genetically engineered model systems are not a primary focus of Neurology: Genetics, but studies using model systems to understand human diseases with a focus on biomarker development, transcriptomics and preclinical treatment trials are welcome. This includes well-powered studies reporting negative results.
The 2021 Impact Factor for Neurology: Genetics is 3.663.
Neurology: Genetics is indexed in PMC, Google Scholar, DOAJ, and CrossRef.
